A New and Transformative Proposal in Metro Atlanta…

Just west of the world’s busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International, lies a vast swath of prime development land which could radically transform the city of College Park (a portion of the airport being located in College Park’s city limits).

Hartsfield -Jackson is a juggernaut for Atlanta and all of Georgia by generating $34.8 billion in economic impact, creating more than 63,000 jobs, and carrying nearly 94,000,000 passengers yearly through its gates.

Over the years, the southside of the Atlanta Metro area has seen much less attention and economic development, as compared to the northern stretches of the city.  However, more focus is on the South Metro, with the addition of Tyler Perry Studios, Trillith media production and mixed-use development, Serenbe and its conservation residential and commercial development, plus a myriad of stand-alone retail, commercial, and residential uses that dot the south side.

The City of College Park Business and Development Authority recently initiated a transformative project where careful attention to planning detail can ensure a well thought out and curated addition to existing neighborhoods, while understanding the complexities and noise factors of being adjacent to such a large airport campus.  The influx of residents would generate sales for new and existing retail and restaurants, plus offer extremely close housing options for many airport workers.

DLBP looks forward to seeing how this proposal progresses and learning from the lessons it will provides for new development across the Atlanta Metro area
