FSU Real Estate TRENDS

Last week, DLBP’s Director of Planning Caroline Burnette Dervan attended the FSU Real Estate TRENDS conference, hosted by Florida State University’s College of Business. This annual event gathers real estate professionals from across the southeast and beyond to hear from industry experts and network with peers.

This year, the conference featured the sessions “Reflecting on a Year of Great Volatility” with Roger Morales, head of Commercial Real Estate Acquisitions at KKR, and “93 Years of Growth and Success” with Publix President Kevin Murphy and Vice President of Real Estate Strategy & Operations Bridgid O’Connor. Caroline also attended a session discussing current trends in the adaptive reuse, medical office, and single family residential for rent sectors, featuring a panel of speakers from Jamestown, Third & Urban, Balcara Group, and AW Property Co. The conference ended with a conversation between former FSU President John Thrasher and former Governor of Florida, Jeb Bush.

Much discussion at this year’s conference centered on the challenges predicted for the real estate industry in 2024. Many CRE professionals, however, are thinking of creative and innovative ways to weather the storm by leaning on technology, refining decision-making criteria, and focusing on differentiated services or assets. DLBP is committed to helping our clients make well-informed decisions about real estate assets and can add value by securing rezoning and entitlements for properties.
