Johns Creek’s New Town Center
DLBP is interested in the recently announced new Town Center to be established in Johns Creek by Medley / Avalon, which is replacing previously empty office parks in Johns Creek. This mixed-use development will help establish what every thriving city needs – a sense of place.
Urban planners can leverage these trends by repurposing outdated office parks into mixed-use developments that combine residential, commercial, and recreational spaces, not only revitalizing underutilized areas but also addressing housing shortages and reducing urban sprawl. Incorporating green spaces and sustainable infrastructure can further enhance the appeal and functionality of these redeveloped areas.
By embracing adaptive reuse and sustainable design, urban planners have the opportunity to transform declining suburban office parks into thriving, multifaceted communities that cater to the evolving needs of society.
DLBP is curious to see how the Town Center will impact and influence growth within the already growing Johns Creek and whether this revitalization will serve as a precedent for other Atlanta Metro jurisdictions seeking a Town Center and sense of place with excessive amounts of excess and unused office space.
